Fed up with Body Shop
I had a slight mishap last spring and the result was that I needed to have the basement doors (three) replaced and the coach re-sprayed.
My rig has been in the body shop now since the middle of May and absolutely ZERO work has been done to date, despite my checking in with them every week or 10 days. They placed an order to have the three doors manufactured, back in June.
I spoke with the Body Shop manager on Friday and she let me know that:
1) They ordered three doors.
2) Two doors arrived last week.
3) One of those two has damaged and is unusable.
I expressed my impatience and mentioned that I absolutely, no kidding, must have the coach by the end of September and the response was "Well, we'll see what we can do." It's completely frustrating that they've had my coach for 3 1/2 months now and there has been absolutely nothing done. But, worse, I don't have the feeling that things are going to accelerate from here.
Granted, my options for having a 40-foot DP worked on are somewhat limited, but I'm reaching out to the brain trust: I'd welcome suggestions on how to deal with this situation.
Anybody?
PS: I've expressly not named the well-known, nationwide RV sales and repair company in question, but I will upon request, if it matters.

Sorry for what you're going through, this is the main reason I always research a shop before I use it. Too bad you're not out West.

Not sure i follow you on this. It seems to me not the body shop at fault but the bay door manufacturer, the body shop received the 3 doors last week, and one was damaged, not the body shops fault. They will have to wait until they get the 3rd door in to start with the repairs. Suggest you contact the baydoor manufacturer to see if you can get the 3rd door expedited to your body shop.
"They placed an order to have the three doors manufactured, back in June."
How is this the body shops fault??? Maybe you could of been more pro active and called the bay door manufacturer instead of the body shop.

Um, 2 doors arrived last week, not 3.
I would tell them I’m taking it somewhere else.

I see it as a normal situation in many instances, it sucks but it happens.

I had my bay doors damaged .
One body shop told me they would have to have doors made. Next one, a family shop, said they could repair them. It was there 3 days.
Total.
And they painted the roof rails.

You have my sympathy. I had to get both windshields replaced and the expected install date was moved back two or three times. First glass never made it on time , importing to Canada not always smooth. Then the installer they have for MH glass went on holidays, fortunately I had a lot of time. When they finished the job was worth waiting for.
Previous glass shop had cost a lot of money and never got it right.
Best of luck, hope you get it fixed to your satisfaction.

I had a booboo too. The shop called me when all of the parts came in, and then I drove the RV to the shop.

When I had a front tire blow out, I had fender damage, wiring, and a new wheel. My first mistake was to take it to a large rv dealer no names but y’all now who. It took 6 months and 4 different times they said it was ready and it wasn’t. Icing on the cake all 6 batteries where total dead 0 volts. House batteries came back to life but not chassis. Like so many other companies they have no quality control.

Yeah, misread, but my statement is still relevant to the baydoor manufacturer being the problem here not the body shop.

The body shop is getting paid a good rate. The body shop should be pro active in getting the parts to satisfy their customer. In the end when it takes the body shop 6 months to make a five day repair, it will be the body shops reputation that will be smeared on the internet.

Depending on coach, the parts may have to be special order/manufactured items from possibly one source. One example are fiberglass parts for National RV.

If it is a fiberglass part, it can be repaired, no need to get a new one

Excellent results with CJ's Auto Body in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Gone only 10 days.
