Fiberglass woes

Hi all,
Hope you can help me with this question. I am looking at a 2000 Southwind and when I walked around the back on the corner of the bumper almost underneath you could see the fiberglass was broken and you could see wood?...the saleman says "Oh its just cosmetic"...I am planning on taking it to Arizona and being a snow bird. Is this something I need to worry about?
Thanks for the input....

There should not be any wood on the outside or "underneath" near the bumper.

Thanks I will try to get pictures and investigate it further. What would be under the fiberglass on the corner?

I looked under my southwind and see no wood . Fiberglass can be repaired very easy, how big is the break ? is it just a crack or is there missing fiberglass ? Picture would help.

There should not be any wood in that area, If the salesman say "it's just cosmetic" have them repair it before you purchase it. No such thing as a cheap fiberglass repair on an RV.

Wood sounds like a PO was trying to fix something the wrong way to me. Good pictures outside and underneath.

On our Dutch Star DP there is wood laminated into the fiberglass at strategic locations like where the ladder bolts on. I crunched the drivers side front corner thanks to the exit at Anderson's Split Pea soup restaurant. That was in '03 or '04. I still haven't fixed it and it hasn't gotten any worse. Wouldn't take much for me to fix it, painting would be a problem as I don't do that.
The damage in the OP's pictures is much worse than mine though. Is it possible they put plywood in to reinforce the area for the taillights?
OP, is the plywood laminated into the fiberglass on the backside of the bumper?
