Finding water on the road

We will be traveling back to the Midwest and are wondering if truck stops with rv dumps also have potable water hookups to fill your fresh water tank? We have a camco water filter for filtering the water.

I was watching a you tube video of a guy dumping his black tank at a Flying J truck stop and he was standing in front of a sign that read "Potable Water, Do Not Flush Black Tank From This Faucet" so I'd assume that some do.

If not stop at any State CG that has a dump station. Most have a potable water faucet that you have to pull forward to from the flush water to keep them separate.

I've stopped at T/A and Loves truck stops often and I have seen potable water there. At least at the ones I've stopped at. I'm sure a lot of places will have it too.

I've seen water Flying J RV islands but I would sure spray the faucets threads and up inside any exposed surfaces of the faucet with bleach first. Do not be fooled thinking the water filter will do anything but remove some fine solids, but not designed to stop germs.

When we need water on the road, we'll use PFJ but head over to the diesel lanes. They've got fresh water over there.

any business or home that has a spigot can provide water - sometimes we stay overnites at businesses or churches after hours - both have never had an issue with us hooking up, and most even allow us to use their 15a electric outlet if they have one on the outside.

We've used Allstays to locate campgrounds when we've needed to fill the fresh water tank. We took this approach on a recent trip to Florida. We were winterized when we left home - and wanted to fill with fresh water a hour or two before reaching our destination. Figured we'd fill the fresh water tank and toss in a bleach solution to sanitize the system - and let it do it's thing as we drove our last couple of hours. We found a campground right off the interstate that charged us $10 for a 100 gallon fill up. I expect we'll do the same thing if the need arises again in the future.
