Bought a dutchstar 40 ft about 2 months ago preparing for retirement. My wife and I are taking it on our first trip tomorrow. This camp ground Dam Quarry is only about 50 miles away below the dam at Northfork lake in AR. This will be only a weekend trip. We hope to take many practice trip before we set out on long trips.
My question is this I have a big green egg grill I use at home love it , and i am thinking about a mini for the motor home. Do most of you charcoal or gas grills. Little worried about the charcoal mess. Any way wish us luck on our first try at RVing. Hope I don't break to much stuff learning.

We primarily use a Weber charcoal but carry both types of grills. Some RV parks do not allow charcoal to be used for cooking.

If you have room for a "green egg" small, or mini, then go for it. Most people don't like the charcoal mess, and use lp. There are a lot of lp grills available. -Get what ever you like best.

You know, I like to use Charcoal, however I have had several instances where it rained prior to the charcoal burning out and I had a mess to clean up. I'm thinking of purchasing one of those infra red gas grills for the MH. Turn them off, put them away.

Can anyone recommend a good one?

I use a charcoal grill myself. I use it in parks that allows charcoals grills. I usually don't have any problem's with the left over charcoal. In state and federal parks that have a burning pit I put the left over charcoal in it. There will be very little left over. I use a small grill. Just myself and wife.

We bought a Weber Q a few months ago and really like it. For now, I carry a 5 gallon propane tank in the basement but plan on tapping into the rig's 45 gallon tank soon. I haven't owned a charcoal grill, other than a hibachi -- ever! But, if you like your home set up, then put a smaller version in your rig. If you're going for convenience, then go electric or propane.
