First Rig, many questions

After months of searching we selected a 2000 Tiffin Allegro Bus 39', Cummins diesel, 330 HP, Alison 6 speed trans through a private party. Super clean.

I just picked up the RV on August 1st, our 31st wedding anniversary! Do I know how to shop or what?

The seller showed me the mileage 53, 314, but when I dropped it off at our local RV service center for a complete check, new tires etc. I noticed that the digital odometer read 86,065. I whipped out my iphone and did the kilometers to miles conversion and it would appear that the odometer switched to kilometers instead of miles.

Does anyone know how to change it back? I still have to register the RV and I want to insure the correct mileage is accurately recorded.

The house batteries are depleted and I'm wondering if the low voltage from the batteries caused a reset form Mi to Kl?

any guidance out there?

Thanks!

Tom

Hello, welcome, and best of luck with your new RV. You may want to post this on the Tiffin owners area on irv2, or on the Tiffin RV Network. I have gained a lot of information in both locations.

I am not familiar with your chassis, but I suspect others in those areas will be.

Best of Luck with your Tiffin. Also, Happy Anniversary to you and your Bride!

If you have a trip odometer reset button, try holding it in and see if it changes it back to miles from kph. If not, there is probably a reset button on the back of the instrument cluster. Check with Cummins to see for sure. This is most likely not an issue for Tiffin, the coach maker, but Cummins or Freightliner (I think that's your chassis make)

Think it is push and hold for 6 seconds.

Congrats on your new to you rig! Many happy miles and smiles.

If you have not done so log on to the Tiffin RV network. A forum run by Tiffin owners not the company. Lots of great information there. Probably get your answer before 24 hours goes by.

I would say the house batteries should not have anything to do with your gauge cluster it should be your chassis battery.

Don't bother to call Cummins - they won't know. It's Freightliner (the chassis builder) that put in the odometer cluster. Give them a call and have the last 6 digits of the VIN handy.

Onmine I can switch from KM to miles via the pushbuttons on the odometer. Mine has two buttons, labeled M and T. The M button begins a series of menus and one of the Set-up choices is Metric/English. Yours may well be different - Freightliner has had a couple different dash systems in use in different years and models.

Update! So just got the RV back from the shop. To change from KM to Miles on the odometer, hold the rest for ~6 seconds!
We are on our first outing, pulled the race trailer to Thunderhill Raceway, northern CA. Very hot, no power so generator is getting a workout. So far so good on our first outing.
Thanks again to all who provided guidance!

Thankyou very much for that info Tom and others . Ours is a freightliner chassis also and 2 weeks ago noticed switch in mileage on gage from 36,000 to 23,000 when get back out of shop i will be looking for that hold for 6 seconds ok awsome. I had called dealership they had no clue. My next thing would of been to call freightliner but if this works wont bother.

I had Freightliner on the phone, okay I was on hold for 4 minutes and then my phone died. So I just waited until i got to the shop and tried the suggestions I received from the posting on this forum. I also did a happy dance! Thanks again!

How do you adjust the driveshaft brake on a 95 Fleetwood Bounder, GM P30 chassis? I have followed the directions in the manual but can't find the adjusting notched wheel. I have adjusted many car breaks and this appears to be the same, remove the clip from the drum and turn the adjusting wheel with a screw driver?????
