First stage of remodeling....

I'm not a fan of the upholstery in our new-to-us Pursuit. It's not horrible, but it's just not my style. We're taking down the metal mini-blinds to install MCD Duo shades, and I figured while we were at it, I would try my hand at redoing the valances.

So here's the results so far:

The blue & tan one is the original, the leather & fabric is my update.

I took apart 2 last night (and taking them apart was definitely more difficult than putting them back together!) and got them redone today, one large one & one small one. I have 2 large ones and 2 small ones left to both take apart and put back together.

I KNOW that once I get these valances done, I'm going to want to reupholster the furniture (probably in the leather I did the tops of the valances in). I just don't know if that's a job I can undertake myself.

WOW, good job, JoBeth! You'll have to post pics when you get them reinstalled.

That is a nice touch, looks super. I have done a lot of the window treatments and yes you will want to do the furniture, the big stuff I let the pros do but regular table chairs with cushion on them are not bad to do
Good work keep us posted

Spent about 3 hours yesterday installing the new valances and MCD Shades. The first valance and shade took us about an hour but the four remaining took only 2 hours. Including a lunch break.

New Valance Installed.

Valance with the Day shades down. Sorry it's a little blurry I only had me cellphone and not my good camera.

Now the Night Shade. Overall I'm pretty happy with the installation. If I had to do again knowing what I now know I would have ordered the large shade a little smaller. It fit snugly into the valance without any play. So I was a little disappointed when I realized it doesn't cover the entire window. There's a little light leakage on the right side.

Of course we now really need to have the couches recovered.

It's always something. The window coverings look great.
