First time posting with question about discount off msrp

We are getting close to start negotiations with a dealer on a 2015 Newmar 3921.My question is with a MSRP of $191,876.00 what type of discount should I expect to get,or should I say, what should I offer?

Thank You
Frank

Hi Frank

Glad to have you here with us.

Discounts off MSRP are usually a factor of the dealers inventory and how quickly they want to sell an RV.
As a general rule 27-29% is a good discount. Some people have gotten low 30's
Looking at 2015s they will most likely not discount as much as a 2014.

But give it a try. I'd start at 31%. You can always go up with your offer but you can't come down.

Good luck and Happy Trails!!!!

find your coach at another dealer that has a advertised discount and use that as a bargaining chip.

Purchased a new 2012 soon after the 2013's came out and discount was about 32% off of MSRP. Hope that helps.

This has been discussed ad nauseum. Offer 30 to 35% off MSRP and buy it for 25-30% off MSRP.

Or--better yet buy one 2 to 4 years old and save 40 - 60% off MSRP .

Good Luck!

As you are negotiating, find out from others who have purchased from same dealer to learn how well they prepare new units for delivery. I have heard some horror stories of problems after delivery that should have been taken care of before delivery to the customer. I only had a half dozen minor things for my dealer to correct on our current coach, Some have reported dozens of problems, some serious. Price is important, but the lowest is not always the best.

Some dealers, typically lower sales volume ones, will not discount below around 15%. Others may go 25-30%. Make your offer in the 30% off range and see where it goes. You may have to shop elsewhere to get the steepest discount. Having a lower quote from another dealer, even if 1000 miles away, is a good lever for bargaining.

If having a local dealer is important to you, you may have to make a choice between lowest price and buying local.

Think long and hard about purchasing new. There a lot of nice gently used, well maintained coaches out there for sale. We changed from a 2006 38' 5th wheel to a 2010 Ventana 4333 this spring. LOVE IT! Bought from individual. Be patient and you can find a nice coach for a great price. I used NADA and pushed to pay no more than low retail. Some say you can bargain for more savings, but we really liked this coach and there were a few add-ons not listed in NADA. ( complete tow bar and braking system for toad just one of a few)
What ever you do I'm certain you'll enjoy. Best of luck!
