Just because a company says there aren't making the parts anymore don't mean they're still not available from other sources say ebay. For example my riding mower is 20 years old and every parts warehouse says they don;t have the steering gear in stock and it's just not available anymore. Went on eaby and searched just the part # , and found 3-4 different listings for it. So after you've gone thru the steps mentioned by marjoa above especially the loose ground, or running new ground wires and you thinks you need the circuit board look on it for the part # and then try ebay.

Those are excellent suggestions! Thanks to all. My problem for DIY work is that my HOA does not allow me to park at home except to load and unload, so multi-day troubleshooting is nearly impossible. The storage garage where we park has a service dept but I'm not gonna pay $130/hr for someone else to do it.
