I always start the season close to home , lots of times a few nights right in the yard. Usually end up with a trail worn in the grass from the trips back and forth to get stuff that wasn't on the load-out list.
Hope the weather co-operates , have a great time.
JMHO: The way traffic is on holiday weekends 3 miles is about as far as I'd feel safe traveling.

not our first trip but we are headed out also. we spend our weekends during the summer at a campground just 30 miles from the house. just don't see the need to travel hundreds of miles when one of the best spots on earth is just 30 minutes away Our farthest trip is an hour away to go boating...

We're thinking of heading down to Sandy Neck Beach in Barnstable this weekend if the weather is nice enough. Just got our over sand permit for the camper renewed and want to get my wife some experience driving our truck on the sand as well so we can pick people up from the parking area and bring them out to the camper this year. Enjoy!

Wow..that's a great idea! (1st outing at home). I never thought of that.
We just bought our rig last November and really haven't been out in it, but of course when we did go (Just two weekends ago) we had lots of tiny notes all over the place with things we forgot or would like to bring. I guess that's just going to be on going until we've had a few years under our belts. But yeah..I like that. Camp out at night right in your yard. Good idea! Thanks!

1st trip of the season

Call us crazy - we're taking the bull by the horns and going to the Grand Canyon South Rim. Going to stay at the Grand Canyon Camper Village in Tusayan - has worst reviews ever. Not much else to choose from that's available. It's about a 4 1/2 hour drive from home. I figure the crowds can't be any worse than what we saw at Zion over Spring Break. Going to be cool, also.
