Fisher & Paykel Installed
After 3 years of dealing with the unreliable Norcold and having to throw out an untold amount of food due to unexpected shutdowns for a number of reasons, we finally got rid of the old Norcold and installed a Fisher & Paykel residential unit. The Samsung was simply not going to fit above the furnace but the F&P fit with no problem and looks like it was meant to be there . All that needed to be done was drop the floor of the cabinet 2 1/2 inches and reroute the 2 gas lines that were over the top of the furnace around the front. The drain line for the kitchen sink did not need to be moved and easily sits behind the new unit. I built a frame out of angle iron that now stands on and is lagged to the floor of the coach and supports the new cabinet floor and the new refrigerator. The bottom rear of the unit is secured to the angle iron frame with 3 large self tapping screws and 2 one inch corner angle brackets attach to the top hinge on each side and is screwed into blocking I secured behind the face frame of the cabinet. The unit is 100% secure without so much as a wiggle. We secure the handles with a canopy bungee and that's it. We have put over 1000 miles on it since installing with some extremely rough roads and no issue with the freezer coming open. The unit works absolutely flawlessly on our modified sine wave inverter and only draws 1 amp!!! Plugs right into the outlet the previous icemaker was plugged into so it is powered whether on shore power, generator, or inverter. What a great unit. They are a little higher priced but well worth it given that installation was so easy. I was able to do the entire project in one full day. Pictures of old and new are attached. Anyone who is considering making the switch, I highly recommend this unit.

Great looking install.
Because you didn't mention any access problems , I'm assuming the fridge came in the entry door , and you didn't have to remove a window to get it in.

Yep. Took the doors off and came right in the front door. No chance of anything more than counter depth coming in that way.

I am wondering too. I looked at a Samsung and a Fischer Paykel and the FP was almost twice as much. Are they more reliable or ?

Great looking install. I have had mine for over a year 1/2 with no problems at all.

That's really nice. I've been looking for one to replace our 16 yr old Dometic side X side, still works good but it will give up one of these day. Like the OP the Samsung won't fix because it sits above the furnace and the 31-3/32" width is perfect.

Nice job and it's nice to know there is another replacement unit that will fit the Norcold opening since Samsung quit making the RF197. 17 cubic feet is a nice size.

I sure wish someone would make a French door that was only 66" tall and 33" wide to replace the Side by Side that's used in some coaches, i.e., 2016 Outlaw 38RE and 38RF. I really hate SxSs.

The F&P is only 67 1/2" tall, about a 1/2" less if you take the leveling feet off like I did.

I'll repeat what the other guy said, nice looking. If the DW sees that I'm gonna have to shell out some cash.
