Fleetwood 40G VS Fleetwood 44B tag axle

Looking for pros and cons of one over the other. Struggling with which one to pull the trigger on. I was always set on the 40G until i stumbled across the new 44b layout.

I’m fearing in getting caught up in the “this will be the last house i ever buy” syndrome when this will be the 4th Rv upgrade in 2 years. [emoji15][emoji15]

Fleetwood 40G VS Fleetwood 44B tag axle

Fit and finish will be very similar, there are however two bathrooms....now beyond the floor plan there are lots of differences ie the engine is larger tow capacity. The 44b also has an aqua hot system in it for hot water and probably heat compared to the Truman instant hot water heater and regular furnaces in the 40G...and then of course there is the price difference...

Ultimately it depends on your needs and wants...I like the styling and floor plan better on the 44B but probably not enough to make me spend the additional money on it...

Advice: On our trip from TX to WA this last summer we were in many parks we had trouble getting into with our 40' MH. A 44' would be possible.

Wow! These are not your father's Discovery's.

If money is no object and you will be going to mostly Class A RV Resorts, the 44 is an awesome machine which trumps the 40.

There are also many CG's that present no problem for 44-45 foot tag axle coaches .

If you are a driver and not a sitter, the tag axle is also a plus.

You obviously have kids or grandkids driving you to the bunk set-up. The separation from your bedroom to the bunks in the 44 is a major plus IMHO.

The larger engine in the 44 is also a BIG factor. If the 40 has the ISB engine there is a tremendous difference in torque that will get you up the hills without any stress or strain.

So, as I said, if money is no object...the 44 wins hands down IMHO.

Both look to be heavily discounted based upon MRSP.

Have fun with your decision!

Tag axle will be a more stable unit. If you go to a tag axle you may never go back.

Fleetwood 40G VS Fleetwood 44B tag axle

Go 44b. You’re not going to be Boondocking or staying In National Parks anytime soon. Most state and natl parks can’t accommodate anything over 35’ anyways. Youll be staying at nice places, all of which will accommodate a 44’.

The 40G is 41.6 feet long and the 44B is 44 feet long so there only 2.4-foot difference between the two. The 44B has AquaHot which really nice option but it does cost a yearly service charge where the Truma doesn't. the 44 doesn't use propane but the 4oG does. The 44B has tag axle which handles better but also another two tires to replace when the time comes. The 44B has less basement storage. When I purchased my 40D the 44 series wasn't released so I don't know which way we would have gone if there were available.

Both are very nice coaches. I personally would select the tag and larger engine.

Fleetwood 40G VS Fleetwood 44B tag axle

So.... Wife just said go with the 44b. I didn’t even have to persuade her to go that route. I simply made the comment that we are either going to buy a really nice RV (40g) or we are going to by a condo on wheels (44b). [emoji6][emoji6]

Any suggestions on best places to buy a new Fleetwood in the Midwest?

This is a little late since your wife has made the decision but according to the information you provided from MHSRV some miss-information was posted.

First the 40G has the ISL 380 engine not the ISB 360. The 44B has the ISL 450, so you pick up 70hp and 100 lb/ft of torque. Subtract out the weight difference and power wise that's a wash. Fuel economy will be slightly better with the 40G. Drivability will be better with the 44B. (tag axle)

Both coaches have the Aqua-hot heating system. Neither has the dreaded Truma hot water heater. Neither coach has a propane tank.

Paddler1954 the 40G does have the truma and propane. The aqua hot is an option. My 2018 40G has the truma and we love it compared to a tank water heater. You are correct about the engines and the ISL380 pulls the 40G great even with a 5K toad.

Herb, the 2019's got rid of the Truma. A short lived experiment I wish I didn't have. If I remember correctly from the factory tour in Sept., the Aqua-hot is now standard.

If you're not locked in, you might consider the Newmar Ventana 4310 or 4326. About the same MSRP. - Paul
