Floor heat

I want to install floor heat. i do it all the time in my business when i build out bathrooms. has anyone one ever done it? and for those of you who have it, do you have any ideea on how much energy it uses? i want to boondock with solar.

Don't know how you plan to install it, but our last RV had floor heat (electric) and for some unknown reason half of it quit working. The tech said the only way to fix it was to tear up the tile floor to get to it. We opted not to do that.

I did a little research on it when I replaced my floors earlier this year. One of the biggest negatives is if it stops working, it's nearly impossible to repair without pulling up flooring. It uses between 10-20 watts/sq ft, depending on manufacture. It can go under carpet, in the tile thinset or under laminate.

Although it would be nice on cold mornings, we opted to not install it.

somewhere i also saw a product that used a grooved subfloor plywood to put it down.
