Florida Sun Pass

Hi All,
I just bought a Florida Sun Pass and they say to put it in the middle of my wind shield toward the top.
It would stick out like a sore thumb in that position.
I would like to put it in the middle but about 6 inches from the bottom. Has any one else put thiers at the bottom and will it work there??
Terry

The bottom of the window is optimum for placement of your Sunpass in a Class A.

As long as they get their money it's fine. I sometimes hold it in my hands and it works.

We have an old model Sun Pass that used velcro to attach to the window; just lay it in the center of the dash by the window and works fine.

That will work if you get the 'portable' model Sun Pass. That is the one that is a rectangular box that is held to the window with velcro or suction cups. But, there is another model (Mini) available that is just a 'sticker' that is fastened permanently to the glass. If it is not stuck to the window, it does not work. The advantage is that it is FREE. You pay $4.99 when you buy it, but when you register it, you get the $4.99 credited to your account.

In my cars the Sun Pass is just below the rear view mirror. In the coach it is located at the bottom center of the windshield.

The Florida Sunpass will work just about anywhere near the front winshield. The new detectors are set up to read the Sunpass looking down. Anyone not familiar with the Florida toll system needs to know that they will pay more for tolls without the Sunpass plus Florida adds a surcharge for "Toll by Plate" collection.

I have had my SunPass since inception, unit is so old that the readout is completely clouded over, that said I have had it in every vehicle I have owned including my Class A, I have never attached the unit to any vehicle just place it on the dash and away it beeps (takes your $$$).

Buy it and place it anywhere on the dash up by the windshield, it will get your $$$ don't worry.

Some toll roads reduce the toll with the Sun Pass, not all. A lot of them give discounts only to commuters. That is, you have to go through the toll 40-50 times a month before the discount kicks in.

33% immediate discount (in the lane) for all two axle vehicles using SunPass.
Vehicles with 3+ axle or greater do not receive a discount.
Good thing I dont have a tag axle

That's been my experience. I've had mine since they offered the pass and I always check my usage/bill on line...no discount as of yet! Not enough usage... Bob

BTW...most cars and RV's for that matter, have those tinted strips at the very top of their windshields and if you place the transponder in that area it's not very noticable from in or outside of the vehicle. I've gone through two transponders and this last one(3rd) has lasted the longest being under that tinted strip...the sun eats 'em for breakfast!
