If the changes are approved, then the name would have to be changed.
It would have to reflect something more inclusive than Motor Coaches. FRVA. Not in favor of the change. Let those who don't own a Motor Coach form their own association.

However- From the responses here by non-members who apparently need a safe space when "Family" or "Motorcoach" is mentioned, FMCA should probably retain both the by-laws and membership criteria as they are.
The purpose of the association is to provide information and benefits of specific interest to the family of fellow motorhome owners, it has never had an intent to discriminate against other recreational vehicle owners.

Those are my thoughts too! I certainly don't consider myself better than anyone who owns a TT or 5er, but it's nice to have an organization that focuses on what we own. I pulled a 5er for 12 years before getting the MH and loved it! Many 5ers cost waaaay more than my MH!

The monthly magazine you get with FMCA is worth the membership price. Of course there are lots of other reasons you may want to associate with a group that shares a similar interest but if you need one I just provided it.

"If you want to join the 21st century, receiving a completed .pdf ballot by email will allow a truly representative vote by your membership. Frankly, just having a yes or no check box on the site accessible by logged-in members should be sufficient. I'm guessing there's a reason why you're trying to make it difficult to vote. Care to explain your logic, FMCA? "
FMCA is governed by what is called "Policy & Procedures". These cover everything from who can join, material that the "goose egg" can be made out of, who can become a life member, awards, how the Round Bottom campground is operated, commercial members, and on and on. The P&P covering balloting is covered and it basically says that there will be a written ballot to change the articles of incorporation and constitution. There is more to it but I'm not to spend time covering it.
Now, anyone that is a FMCA member can propose an amendment along with a rationale to those P&Ps. Depending on which one it to be affected, it could require a petition of 20 people. Those proposals have to be submitted to FMCA, by a certain date before a governing board meeting depending on its scope. Those proposals then get sent to the Constitution & Bylaws committee to check if they are viable and also to the Policy & Procedure committee for the same reason. They are then sent to the executive board for their consideration and comments. From there, the proposal is put to the governing board for their vote during the summer convention. If the proposed amendment is a change to the bylaws, it requires a 65% up vote of the GB to pass, and if it passes, the change goes into effect. The GB votes on possible changes to the articles and constitution that are presented to them. If the GB approves of the wording presented, it then goes to the membership for vote where a simple majority of the membership is required.
So, if you want to be able to vote by electronic means, please put forth an amendment to do so. The P&P you should be concerned with is P&P 1001. This is the one that specifically addresses the written ballot

Golly... I'm sorry I asked. I suppose I'll just put my tail between my legs and slink off into the sunset. I'm kind of embarrassed that I'm not willing to find a printer... so I guess getting together a petition to file an amendment probably isn't going to happen, either. But, thanks for the explanation, Don.

Follow the money. FMCA is looking for more revenue because of their FMCA Assist program. Short version is that if you are on the road and have a serious medical emergency, FMCA will get you, your family and your coach home...without charge. They are looking for more members (already raised the annual dues to $50) to pay for this program.
It seems there are two choices:
- Increase revenue (members) to keep FMCA Assist viable.
- Leave everything as it is and eliminate FMCA Assist.
