I don't know about anyone else but I called around to a number of dealers and the prices were pretty much the same. I went thru the FMCA program and saved $73 per tire after all the extras were added off the best price quoted. Maybe someone knows of a better place to buy tires but I didn't and I didn't want to drive all over to make the purchase.....I'm happy with the deal..It's murder to put out that kind money for something that will never wear out..especially with the fuel prices now....

Do some shopping around first. We used an "authorized" dealer in Las Cruces, NM that said "he couldn't give us an estimate on the price of the tires because he doesn't have access to that information". So did we make a wrong decision? We bought 6 Michelins 295 80R22.5 XZA2 Energy Load Range J and paid almost $4400 through the FMCA program-just for the tires. So where was the discount?

Just to be sure we are talking about the same tires, I don't see any Michelin Load Range "J" in that size other than the "X Coach XZ". The XZA2 and the XZE2+ are both LRH.

If the $4400 you paid included sales tax, it is quite likely that it was the discounted FMCA price. Tire prices have gone up markedly in the past year due to the increase in the price of oil. I think everyone who has done actual comparison shopping has agreed that the FMCA (and Monaco) prices for Michelins are significantly below the best you can do in the retail marketplace for the same tires.

OOPS-my mistake. You are right; they are not J. Yes-the price includes all the taxes. We had to pay all the additional dollars to the dealership to install, etc. Well, you make us feel a little better. We just thought we would get a much better price. Thanks!

Tires shopping

Who is kidding who? The mfg (mich) set up this program as a Truck discount program. Then expanded it to all BIG vehicle tires. Several so called clubs, associations all jumped on the wagon and many think it orginated with FMCA. NO, it did not. Mich set it up. I went to several different Mich dealers in Florida. The all called it a Mich Advantage program. I asked if the price was as low as FMCA advantage program. 3 out of 4 dealers said they only knew about the Mich Advantage program. one dealer said he didn't know about anyones Advantage prgram but he quoted me prices about the same as participating dealers. So, do your home work. get prices from as many dealers as are within your geographic area, compare, compare. Camping world in tampa wouldn't even quote me on Mich tires. Only GY and the price was substandially higher (over 100 bucks a tore). good shopping.

I can't explain the different model of tires, only the dealer could do that. However, the different load ranges within a tire size, has to do with the load carrying capacity of a tire and usually the number of plys.

You should have a sticker posted that gives the mfg recommendation on tires sizes and load data on your rig, which is necessary for tires selection. Your existing tires are marked with size and load range. Someone here, familiar with your rig, may be able to make suggestions on what you need.

I'm not really any expert on tires (I just play one on TV... )

Just priced the Michelin 295/80R22.5 XZA2 through the Advantage Program for $679 ea.+tax. Reg $750 + tax.. While I was there got a price on Goodyear G670's for $633. + tax.. Still seems a tad high !! Guess I'll shop.
