Foggy windows driver/passenger on motorhome
Is it legal to replace the double pane driver and passenger side windows that are foggy now, with single pane glass?

And, in addition to what Dave said, it may not be that easy. In some window assemblies, the combined 2 panes plus spacer is rather thick ... I.E., more than 1/4".

Why not take it to one of the places that rebuild dual-pane RV windows, and stay with the original design? Thermo-pane's don't sweat or form condensation inside, when it's warm in the rig and cold outside. Easier to heat and cool the rig. Pretty inexpensive to have done at the place some of the shops in Florida...

You can get your windows fixed a lot more reasonably than replacing them. There are places in Elkhart that fix insulated windows. You can find them under RV repair shops in Elkhart.

Sorry, forgot to mention I am in the Vancouver area of British Columbia, about 3000 miles away from Florida or east coast. We cannot travel too far away from home due to health issues so need to get whatever we decide to do, at home. We can order 2 new units from Fleetwood, but that will cost about $800. US. plus delivery and installation. Doing it ourselves is not possible.

Google Dave Root Glass, he's in the Bend, OR area & does excellent repair work on those SE Gi window seals. And reasonable cost to boot.

Several shops in Florida repair the windows. None is very cheap. usually $325 for 1st window and 250-275 for each additional. One independent RV Sales, Service and repair try's to polish fog off window 1st. If that doesn't work he replaces with one pane of Tempered glass. been told that automotive safety glass is required only on Windshields. That properly tempered glass is fine for side windows. I have 6 more windows with fog problem and I am not going to pay 200 to 300 bucks per window. The "R Factor" on the factory dual Payne isn't enough to even talk about. I called Hehr (mfg of fogging windows) and they wouldn't couldn't give me the "R Factor" rating. claimed that no one else had ever asked for that rating. They won't even admit that they have ever been told of a possible problem. I'll NEVER purchase any MH with windows from them. safe travels.... ed

I will be heading over to Bend to the rally in Aug and hope to get 6 windows fixed. Will be send him a layout of my coach and the window that are bad to get a price. I have see him at the Thousand Trails at Sunriver. Another guy on here from BC is have 11 windows done in June, he is the best around at a reasonable price.

I live in the. Los Angeles area. Dave Root sent two of his guys to repair all of my rig's windows, except for the bathroom and small kitchen window. I was out of state when they arrived. I store my rig at a friend's house. My buddy said his guys arrived early, worked their butts off all day, and finished the job by the afternoon. I returned this week and checked my rig out. Man, those guys did a beautiful job!! Total cost was just over $3,100.00. Well worth it!! We bought our 2006 Fleetwood Bounder DP in 2011, and the windows were fogged. After researching this problem on this forum, we decided to give Dave the job. I highly recommend him!!

We used Dave Root for about 6 of our windows on the way through Oregon-great outfit and would use them again.

We had our 2006 Bounder windows "defogged" at Suncoast Designer in Hudson, Florida at about 1/2 the cost of new windows. They did a great job!

I used to have trouble with fogging windows, but that had not been an issue for about 40 years now....
