The 460 is a bullet proof stump puller. Plenty of power once you toss the stock exhaust manifolds for headers. They sound WAY cooler than the V10 too.
Biggest problem for the tranny is they need more cooling. Adding a secondary cooler helps 'em stay together longer.

I have one in my 95 F-250 xlt.......185498.5 miles on it when I fed it this morning, kinda expensive to feed but it's worth it.
Doesn't burn oil, I use 10/30 Semi Synthetic in it, been doing that since I bought it.
I had to put a Jasper Transmission in it at 178000 miles.

Well so far I have heard nothing bad on the 460 The E40D tranny seems to be mixed reviews. Any body else ??

Ford furoms say its more than that.. especially if you want the 'upgrades'... That said, I'm looking for a E4OD or the after 1998 4R100 to replace my C6...

I have the 460 in my 36' Southwind with about 80,000 miles on it. I have took it up the mountain between Franklin,NC and Sylva, It made it up without overheating, but not very fast, but high RPM's. It's a heavy coach for that engine. Freeways are no problem though, once you get it wound out, it will hold 65 just about anywhere. I had a dually with the 460, but stick shift. It went through a water pump every 60,000 miles.Other than that, held up fairly well. (I do have the Banks Power pack)

I would say you should get a Jasper Rebuild they come with a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty.
Tax license and out the door less than $2600.00 BUCKS.

I have not had good luck with Jasper rebuilds, had one in a Nissan truck, the original engine went 200,000 miles until the quick lube place failed to refill it with oil ! After they replaced the engine, they delivered the truck back on a roll back wrecker, went out the next day to drive it, it would not crank. They picked it back up, two weeks later brought it back again on a roll back, it would crank, but did not run right. After several months of them working on it, replacing the motor two more times, it just never ran right. The mechanics blamed it on the motor, but I think it was a little of both.
