How long has it been on? Any problems with vibration or working loose? I just priced the Ford parts from a Texas parts distributor and the price was $90.

I have installed several of the Ford mods. They do have a water drain. It is a rubber valve about the size of a silver dollar. I am not trying to find fault with your mod., I think it is great way to save money. I just think you may have a problem in a very hard rain.
