Found a snake skin

Yesterday and today were very productive day working on the MH. Finished several little projects and started on a new one. Since we bought this coach the dash A/C hasn't worked exactly right. The plenum would not change from one direction to the other and I thought there must have been a vacuum pump issue. So, I dove into it and was surprised to find a 2 foot snake skin behind the front kick panel. It was at the base of the heater core where hot air comes out. Can't tell how old it is but it sure caught my attention. A month or so ago we were coming home when the dash heater A/C fan just quit. I thought it just needed replacing but it just had a bad ground. Fan is now working fine. Not sure what the plenum issue was. It's now working fine too. My quandary now is what to do about the snake. It's probably just a rat snake or ??? but I'm afraid it may still be in here. And, if my DW ever sees it, she may not come back in here til I find it. So, what would you all do?

Heck naw I didn't tell her. She wouldn't get back in it. But,I sure kept one eye a looking while I worked on the fan and vacuum pump. My game warden friend looked at the skin tonight and said it was non poisonous. That's a relief but it would still make you hurt yourself if he decided to come out and visit at an inopportune time.

Take the skin to a zoo herpetologist or vet, someone and find out if it is one of which you should be wary. If so hire someone to help you get rid of it. Chances are it is harmless. A good rat snake will keep rats out of your MH : ). Basically if the snake has no access to water or food (rodents etc) it will move somewhere else. Probably has already. But if not that may take some time. Some snakes need water every day, if so then the solution is obvious. They do not like cold so you could run your air conditioner way down for a day or so it may leave. The darker quieter and warmer and food friendly your MH is the more likely it will want to stay.

A big cat would be a help to you if the snake is not poisonous.

There was a post here some time ago about a snake coming out of the dash vent while driving, comment was he didn't know his wife could scream that loud or that long. (and it got away by the time he got stopped) Seems the opening up front for the air conditioner intake is not screened. I did put hardware cloth over the opening on mine, just in case.
