Fresh water tank leak

Testing in the AM.

Original FPT fitting on tank at supply to pump was split and beyond spec for MPT to seal.

Cut off my 1st attempt and put a new sch 80 coupling in to mimic the Elkhart thicknesses.

Let me be gentle here,
You in world of hurt there Sam....
You say it is the potable pump suction fitting, that makes it at the bottom of the tank. That is tough. There are some adhesive system that claim to work on PE, but none that I am aware of are approved for drinking water.

Best answer (and one I have used), find a fabricator that works in Polyethylene. He will have the stuff to weld on a new fitting.

The next try will work only if you have a larger hole elsewhere in the tank. Get a "Bulkhead" fitting. (if you try McMaster-Carr, be ready to look at a lot to get the right part.) You put it in by redrilling the hole for the new fitting and putting a wire from resized the old hole though that larger hole and sliding the fitting down that wire.

I wish you luck.

Matt

I'll be gentle too. This water is used to flush turds.

Just to add something to your post...I know what a bulkhead fitting is and won't need one.

I'm not in a world of hurt but thanks for your opinion.

Well,
It sounds like you have an answer and that is good.
As long as neither you nor anybody else is going to consume that water, there are lots of available solutions.

Good Luck Mike,

Matt

A "split" tank fitting can often be permanently repaired with a SS "worm drive hose clamp" wrapped around it.

A busted up/off fitting like those in your pics not so much!

The FPT was not only split but also had a separation from the annular area at the tank. Better now.
