Fridge stopped working on shore power

Went out today and noticed that the fridge was not working. It was running on AC. Flipped it over to LP and got it going. Checked the breakers and all is well. Will check the fuses tomorrow. Any ideas???????

On my dometic fridge, there is a 325 watt heater in the chimney. The wire shorted out, which in turn blue the fuse in the box behind the fridge.

We've experienced this same problem. We did have a blown glass fuse in the outside fuse box, but that did not solve our problem. Like your's our fridge was working on electric, but when we cleaned it out and parked it in the driveway - it didn't work on electric the next time we went on a trip - a few weeks later. Get's nice and cold on Propane though.

What I feel I have narrowed our problem down to is the refrigerator heating element. It's a relatively low cost item and will be the next item that I try out. You can find some different ones here on ebay

Let us know what you find.

It's a Norcold in a 2002 Fleetwood Discovery 38P. We had a little weather the other day and had some close lightning so don't know if there was a surge or not. I checked everything else and all worked ( tv, lights, microwave, etc. ) it's not on a surge protector but will be in a day or so.

One more item to check is the plug itself. Located outside in the access panel. It gets a lot of condensation and can corrode. Ask me how I know that?

Well everything I've checked is ok. So I'm taking her in tomorrow to a good service place and let them check it out. Let y'all know when I do. Thanks for all the input. Happy trails....

Our Norcold 842 worked on elec. but the burner wouldn't work on LP. Changed the board and solved the problem. Search this forum for norcold issues. There were some interesting and helpful comments made. One in particular was about a possible grounding issue. If it is a board issue, don't let the shop change it. The Dinosaur board can be bought on Ebay and is an easy changeout.

Had the same problem and it was tripping GFI in the bathroom. 2005 seabreeze. Temp fix was cooling on propane and it worked on electric after cooling down. Last time i disconnected all elect connectors on frig that i could get to and cleaned them. Has been working ever since. Doesnt take much to trip GFI`S. Might be worth a try before spending your money having someone else checking it. Good luck
