Front end diesel noise

We test drove a 2011 Damon Avanti yesterday with a cummins/freightliner chassis. Is it normal for a loud engine noise to kick in periodically?

Yes, it's the radiator fan.

Lol. That's our dilemma. We are pretty happy with the rest of the set up. Not sure we can get past this one.

I wear ear plugs while driving mine. . I really do.

I can still hear other vehicle's horns, the CB and the CD player while driving.
I know it seams odd, but it works well for me.

When i get o a rest area or restaurant I take them out and I can hear much better if i didn't have them wile driving.
