Full paint or Gel coat??
Am looking at buying a model that has either, both are at same price. In the new Thor Hurricaine's, they get more for the full paint, but I see benefits to both. What are the pro's and con's of each??

I have a 2013 Thor Hurricane 34E. The dealer had the one we wanted in stock with the full body paint. I'm glad it had the paint and not decals. I believe with a little normal cleaning and wax the paint should last much better than the decals.

Paint is much nicer and wish I could afford it - but I wish they wouldn't use such dark colors - the heat soak in the desert summer is horrendous.

My coach has full body paint and I was totally surprised to find that streaks on the sides from roof runoff just wipe right off with a rag! I was used to having to use black streak remover on the 5er. Also, the paint on my 2002 still looks great! I think you would like it!

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Check out the link Cliff provided. This topic is discussed frequently here and the vast majority of us who have full body paint wouldn't own another rig without it.

Paint will last years longer than gel coat. Good paint will not fade, the gel coat will fade badly.

About a $7,000 option in 2002 on our DSDP. Wouldn't have another RV without it! Much, much easier to keep looking clean.

Not an option I can afford, but if I bought new I would defiantly have full paint.

I bought used with FBP - not sure what I paid for the paint. I think it's a lot more affordable used than new. Would not a buy new coach - and would not buy without FBP. JMHO

Our has gel coat and I keep it nice and shiny and the decals are well preserved but it is lots of work. Full paint for me if I ever have another MH.

We are looking at a 2013 Thor Challenger. It has full body paint at no extra charge. It may have more options than the Hurrican. New Challengers range from $116,995 to $129,995 at Camping World. Our current coach is white with gel coat. The decals are cracking and the walls get chalky. I just applied the ZEP high traffic floor finish to make it shine. I would go with full body paint, and if all goes well I think we will be trading our 2003 challenger in for the 2013 challenger with the full body paint.
