Gap in closet floor when slideout extended

When I extend the rear slideout on my 02 Discovery 38, there is a gap in the floor of the closet on the driver's side. Is anything supposed to be there or is that just a peculiarity of the design?

What do you mean by "a gap"?

Can you see outside or what?
Is it just a gap in the carpet or flooring?

More info please.

That's normal. There probably might have been a filler panel that slid out to cover that opening. I have one similar on my front slide that covers the access to the plumbing and electrical. Just be careful if you have pets! Its pretty easy to make a cover for that opening...cloth or vinyl with some Velcro to hold it in place.

Cloth snapped on sounds good.
