GAS Class A Buyer Important Information

There is a new wrinkle in the Class A gas realm people ought to be aware of. The new Ford F53 6 Speed chassis is a dramatic improvement over it's older 5 speed siblings. The sound level inside the coach is basically the same on the flat or climbing a hill. The performance of the cruise control is light years better. The coach I just tested maintained speed within 3 mph when set to 65 going up stepped hills that would have had a 5 speed falling off and wailing the engine. If you've ever driven a 5 speed Ford coach you know what I'm talking about. The coach I drove was a 2016 Bounder 35K 30th anniversary edition. I'm pretty sure that coach also has a newly revised sound insulation package because it's a LOT quitter inside than my 2014 Bounder on the flat. If your in the market for a new Class A Gas pay attention to the vin number. There are a lot of 2016 coaches out there still on the 2015 chassis. If the 10th digit in the vin is the letter F it is a 2015, if that letter is a G it's a 2016. If the coach manufacturers pay attention to their cab insulation packages we consumers are in for a treat. I don't know if the new F53 is diesel pusher quiet but it is quiet enough.

I had a '11 Bounder with the 5 speed Ford transmission. Terrible shift patterns, made no better with a SCT 5 Star Tuner. The jump out of 5th to 4th caused the engine to rev way up, dropping MPG way down. O mph to 45 was improved with SCT but these are not at cruise speeds.
My Allison 6 speed, is much better. The drop out of 6th to 5th is hardly noticeable. It also can be shifted with the touch pad when 5th is too high for larger hills.
I'm sure the new 6 speed Ford tranny will be better.
Full Timers.
