You have nailed my dilemma. We are in the same boat. My budget is similar to yours and thoughts are the same. I do plan to move around a little more I think. I like to explore and I love adventure. One reason we test drove a diesel to begin with is i have read so much about what a nice ride they are and my wife has a lot of neck pain which revealed a crushed disk after a doctor visit so riding and bouncing in our PC gets to be a little uncomfortable if we drive very many hours at a time. I should drive a gasser just to make sure but we fell in love with the ride. The emotion thing kicking in. I think i will drive a gasser before i jump to any decisions. You are right. It will not get more than 10 to 12 k a year so it will do some siting in the sun in the winter.

Definitely a used diesel pusher. I started with a gasser but switched due to the anemic performance of the gasser. In my case I found that the DP drove much better , was quieter on the road, was put together better, and much more powerful. I would never buy new because of the heavy depreciation of motorhomes.

For us we found the the gas chassis was our best fit. We're on the road 6 to 9 months a year and drive about 5K/year. In regards to the way our coach performs both ride and power I give it a thumbs up. A couple of our friends who have DP's were quite surprised and very impressed as to the quietness and ride in our coach. Our 8.1 buttoned up to the Allison trans is quite the deal. Smooth shifting and plenty of power. Besides on the other hand we feal when we're sitting still we have the same ammentities that all the DP's have. After all we have a/c, stove, micro, sink, nice bath, slideouts anyway it fits our needs and when it comes to the maintenance I have no difficulty performing them myself and it's much cheaper then the DP's. I do realize it's different for everyone. Good luck on your decision, hope everything works out.

I own a Trucking company with a fleet of Cummins and Cats. We went gas with 8.1/Allison and love it. I do my own maintenance, and didn't like the idea of walking into the bedroom and climbing under the bed full of grease to work on it. If you go deisel, Cummins parts and service are easier to come by. We have a 1978 tractor in the fleet with a Cat, and it has never given us a problem (unbelievable). Most auto parts stores carry parts for the GM 8.1.

I ended up getting 2001 38' HR Scepter that has less than 40k on the odometer and looks immaculate on the inside. It also has the 330 Cummins engine. What a sweet ride.

If you want the pics on your PC, make a new folder on your desktop. Go to the site where your pics are and right-click on the enlarged pics and save them to your new folder.

You probably already know how to do this, but some might not. The pictures probably won't be on the seller's website very long.

Off topic but I don't know all the stuff I will need to buy for a mh other than the obvious. I am open to all suggested items you think I need for a big mh other than sewer hose and electric cord with adapters.
