Gasoline theft by siphoning
I have a 1995 35' Cruise Aire on a Ford F53 Chassis and I suspect that I am getting some gasoline theft. Does any one know if it is possible to get a siphon hose down through the filler hose into the tank?
Thanks
Dave

Yes, you can, but be careful not to light a cigarette before you get all the gasoline out of your mouth :-(

Thanks Jim,
It won't be me getting the fire but the sucker will either see the cops or my 357 a few inches from his face.

I bought a locking gas cap when I suspected that. Cost was under $20.

Did that with the company 12 passenger bus, then they just cut the hose after the cap and before the tank, TWICE!!
Cost more to replace the hose than the gas would have cost.
Or they puncture the tank which is even more costly!

Curious...what makes you suspect that you are loosing gas?
My Winnebago has a door to the gas cap and I just installed a locking latch and removed the knob.
I had to use the original tab from the inside to ensure the door was locked.
Worth a consideration, but anyone can pry this open if they are intent on getting your gas.
Please let us know how you make out.
Also, as I was on the page previous to this post, there was an advertisement.....of a device to "siphon 5 gallons of gas in less than 90 seconds" or something like that.
Makes you think............................................. ...

Personally, I recommend the cops over the pocket cannon. (much as we'd all like to utilize the appropriate tool at hand, probably not a good idea)

They'll do it at night in the dark. Tape some razor blades to the side of the gas cap. That will tell you. Get one of those spiral springs to shove down the tank. Can't get a hose by it but you can still filler up. They were from the Jimmy Carter days, which we're back in.

even crack heads can by pass that. Your filler hose is rubber and easily cut.

We have not had this problem so I am speculating. You can use stainless braid hose (race supply) locking cap. Motion sensor lights/alarm/hunters game camera.

These days you'd get sued into oblivion doing something like that, after you were arrested. It's a different world today.
