Gen Run Light

I have 2001 National Tradewinds LTC. On the lower left side of the dash is the Gen Run light. Normally it is not lit unless the generator is running. For the past two days the red light has been on even though we are not using the generator.

Any idea why it is on and how do I get it to go off?

Check to be sure the stop side of the switch at the generator is not being depressed by something. Let us know what you find.

Looking at the schematic for an Onan Marquis genset control board, the only way I can see that the light might stay lit is if one of the relays start contacts were welded. The other possibility is if there were enough corrosion on the board to cause a short, that might do it.

Without knowing what brand and model genset you have, this is only a guess.
