Gen-Turi > How much did you pay? > Where did you buy?

After spending a weekend at an IndyCar race at Barber Motorsports Park, and liking our neighbours, I realized I need a Gen-Turi. Where did you buy yours?

Camping World with Good Sam membership $170.00
Camping world website $143.00
Walmart & Amazon $127.00

Now I'm home and Amazon.ca is CDN $250.00.

I need this for my next race on May 24 weekend, here in Canada. Any ideas on how to not get ripped off? I will not be back in the US before then.

Bought ours in Quartzsite for $100 but many of the club made there own from black plastic pipe. Exhaust places can make the venturi part for you and you just bolt it onto the pipe section

I made my own, using parts from Lowe’s or Home Depot for about $35.
Materials:
4 inch drain pipe without holes, much lighter than schedule 40 pipe
1/8 x 1/2 inch flat aluminum strip
Electrical conduit 90 degree elbow
Conduit fitting(s), depending on the size of your Jenny or Hydro-Hot exhaust
Rivets

I cut the strips to length, bent them and riveted them to the conduit fitting and drain pipe- see photos. I needed two ‘Genturies’, so I had to buy 3 10-foot lengths, two to cut to length to fit across the basement, and the third as extensions to get the two to discharge above the roof. Cummins/Onan discourages ‘hanging’ the genturi on the exhaust pipe, so I use a bungee attached to a suction cup on my driver’s window to relieve the weight- my paint is too old to hold a suction cup over time. For the Hydro-Hot, I hook a small bungee in the bathroom window drain holes, as it only needs to keep it from sliding sideways as there’s no problem with that exhaust supporting the weight of the pipe. I store them on top of my full width propane tank and diesel tank along with a 4x4 post cover ‘tube’ to hold my stinky slinky, so no basement storage space is taken.

I hope this helps. As a sometime race fan and a frequent bluegrass festival attendee, I appreciate your concern for your neighbor- I’m surprised at how many are clueless!

Walt. (Sorry for the sideways photos, gotta figure that one out!)

I made mine out of a piece of 90 degree EMT and some metal gutter. Sort of looks likes Walt's.

I made mine out of 3” aluminum irrigation pipe! Then polished it with steel wool! Had an exhaust shop make the bends and expand the end to fit over each other! Works great

Does 3" break down expended or couplings. Is whole thing 3" alum. With bends. Never heard of alum irrigation pipe . Like for big rolling sprinklers

Is there any reason you couldn't put an adjustable leg to the ground. To support weight

I would try eBay, craigslist, let go, and offer up also Facebook marketplace people sell these things all the time when they sell their RVs.
Got mine brand new with a bag never used 75 bucks from my friend who just sold his RV.

Send a message via ICQ to Ivylog
The first one I may cost $18 using 10’ alum 2"X4" gutter down spout and 90. Cut the 10’ in half for storing and 4” suction cup to support. A 2” air-gap runs the coolest.

The Walmart's I checked did not stock them. Ordering is not an option as I didn't know where I was going to be until I got there. Now back in Canada.

I believe none of the Wmarts stock them. You have to order them in for pickup.
