Generac Generator Q55G

I have an issue with my generator. Generator starts and generates for about a minute then LED Light goes out and it stops generating for about a minute. Restarts, light is on then stops generating....initial testing suggested a faulty regulator but when I replaced the regulator no joy what so ever ...no RED LED on and no power. Replace it with regulator one and the on off system goes on.

When regulator one comes on voltage is 150 volts at the plug.

Question 1.....could the new regulator be faulty? According to dealer not likely
Question 2 ....there is a POT to adjust voltage...which way does one turn to decrease voltage.

Frequency...there is no change in RPMS from the motor so I am assuming frequency is not a problem as the generator has worked for several years

Any other advice is welcome

the adjustment on my NP66G voltage regulator increases voltage if turned to the right. Decreases when turned toward the left.

Hi Doug! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Sorry you're having a problem with the genny. I've never heard of that exact problem before so can't really offer help. Saw that you are new on IRV2 and wanted to say hello! Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

i didn't mention, if you don't have it, find the service manual for ypur model online & download it. Owners manual too. I know there is a link either here or over at SmokStack
https://www.smokstak.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=6

In the service manual you will find a nice flowchart to help troubleshoot the prob. It really helped me a lot. That was how i eventually figured out the voltage regulator thing. Also learned to always keep a spare VR as they can just go *poof* for no apparent reason.
