Generator

We are hooked up to full 50amp and our generator started by itself. This has never happened before does anyone know why this would've happened?

Breaker on the pole tripped or the site in general lost power. Your Automatic Transfer Switch kicked in and started the generator to maintain power, just as if you had unplugged.

This statement is not accurate. Monika, please update your profile and add what year/make/model coach you are talking about. Generator auto start is a feature on some coaches (the transfer switch does not start the generator). What happens is when there is no incoming AC power and the house battery voltage reaches a preset threshold, the generator auto start module will cause the generator to start. There are many reports of generators starting on their own from small animals bumping the manual start switch after using the generator for warmth (not many reports), or moisture in the plugs for the generator's wiring (most reports). My bet if you don't have generator auto start is that there may be moisture in the plug for your generator wiring.

If you have the auto start feature don't read any further. On my last MH we were sitting by a lake about 75 feet from the MH and our genny started. Nobody inside...hmmm. We had an extended warranty so took it in. It was the circuit board. You could see a small carbonized area where it smoked. Never thought this was possible, but now I know better. I don't remember what unit was in the MH. Just know it was a Flair 30 footer. Pretty easy to get access and give it a visual.

I was outside the front of the coach once and the genny started.. looked in the windshield and my Abbey dog had her front paws on the dash, rear feet of the floor.. she had started it.. She has also turned knobs on the stove.. we removed the knobs to the burners on the stove.. fortunatly we were in the coach when she did this as we noticed propane smell right away.

Instead of taking the knobs off, maybe you should have taught her how to cook.

Actually that would be the Generator auto start (EC-30) that would sense the loss of shore power and then start the generator if needed according to the parameters that you have setup in it.
