Thanks Floyd that is good info. I also downloaded a PDF file of the maintenance manual after going through the owners manual. I think I'm sitting in Houston all day tomorrow (work for airline). If so I may try and get in touch with you by phone. Have a good evening.

just a question. Did it say coolant temperature or did it say inverter overheat. When I first got my coach I tried running everything on a hot day to see what it would do. Running both air conditioners, the hot water heater on electric, and various other things after a couple of hours the generator shut down with inverter overheat. I checked and it is just air cooled and sitting in my yard it could not handle the entire load.

Primary code 1, overheat, secondary 33, coolant overheat (or over temp-not home but definitely coolant). Had it checked it Dallas and mechanics got the same.

The Onan 7.5/8.0 kW genset has 2 temp shutdowns. One is on the engine temp and the other is on the Inverter/converter/control

Thanks this one threw 33 for coolant. While it's out I may do all the sensors. Didn't know about the inverter/converter sensor.

Thanks for the excellent video. I didn't know about cleaning the soot out of the spark arrestor.

dumb question of the day: is it o.k. to use the automotive type radiator cleaner on this radiator? I've done all the filters on my 7500 qd and am still getting the 33 error code. the unit starts fine, sounds good, but shuts down just about the time the load comes on (2 to 3 minutes). newby at this and trying to save a couple of bucks. don't really use the genny, but it would be nice to have as we are headed off cross country in a couple of months.

one thing I learned about these gen sets is they have a fan belt. We were boondocking in our inspire one time and came back to a quiet rv. I restarted and it ran a few minutes then it shut down. I couldn't figure out why then I looked at an angle from the access cover on the bottom and I could see the broken belt. It is on the rear of the unit and turns a water pump. I had to drop the unit, pull the covers and replace. The Onan parts guy at Cummins said to figure 400 hrs on the belt. They will auto shut down if they get warm and without a water pump it takes about the same amount of time to overheat as it does to trigger the transfer switch.
Hope this helps someone.

Hey Duo have them replace the fuel hose with something high quality. As long as they are in there have them replace anything rubber including the mounting hardware if applicable.
I had mine done about 3 yrs ago and it cost $300 to pull it out and put it back, $2.50 for the part, and about $100 for whatever.

I'm going to truck it to Parker Power who specializes in these things and do all the preventive maintenance I can. I'm hoping to not have to drop it again very soon.
