Generator not turning off

I hope this the right place for this post... I have 1996 f53 35" rv my problem is the generator I turn it on and when I hit the switch to turn it off it does not till like after 1 min or so and then it will?

You probably need to add some specifics.

The type of generator etc.

On my Generac, there are two shut off switches. One in the cockpit and one on the generator itself. Have you tried shutting down at the generator? Is the symptom the same there? At least you can isolate if it is a switch issue or something related to the generator itself.

Start with that and give us some more info.

Sorry yes it's a Owen ???? And yes it has 2 shut off switch and both do the same....

So that would probably be an Onan. I'm not a mechanical expert but since it seems to run, it may be that the beast is in need of a tune up. Hopefully others will chime in here.

I might check the wiring connections and make sure the grounds are clean and tight. If it is just continuing to pop and jump and shudder, then a tune-up, including new plug is in order

Sorry yes a onan,, it runs good just take long to shut off.. I will check the grounds.. thanks guys..
