generator problem

I have a 1998 Safari Ivory Serengeti Edition motorhome with a 7.5k Onan
generator. The fuel line going to it has a small hole in it. It is dripping a
small of amount of diesel on the ground.

The question is can I make a splice and replace the bad spot? If so do I have
to worry about getting air in the line? And if I do have to worry about it how
do I bleed the line?

We are full time RVer's and I dont have the luxury of having a home base to work
out of.

I don't own a diesel generator, but I have worked on diesels before. If the line is the supply line from the tank, I don't see why you couldn't splice a piece in. I don't think getting air in the line is that big of a deal. Maybe someone else knows a little more here.

If it is like mine you hold the stop switch for a minute and it primes the system.

The generator is designed to run out of fuel. (remember you have a 1/4 tank cutoff.) any time you run out of fuel, just press the stop button and hold for about a minute. (As bldrbob said)

We had this problem on our old rig. problem was found by shop working on a different issue. They repaired by removing the damaged area and splicing in a piece of metal tubing and securing using plane old hose clamps. We ran this way for over 3 years with no problems. This was on a '94 Allegro Bay DP with a 7.5k Diesel Onan Gen.
