Transfer switch. You will need to take the cover off and test for power incoming from the genset. If you're not comfortable with live electricity and the use of a VOM get a pro.

Can you hear the generator load after 30 seconds or so? If it does then I would check my transfer switch.

I think you are probably right. this problem just started doing this but not all the time.. Would this mean the transfer switch needs to be replace or are they fixable ??

After verifying that it is in fact the transfer switch it would most likely need to be replaced. Some are fixable. Maybe you could Google the manufacturer's site to find your model and then determine if it can be fixed. If you can't do it yourself the labor cost would llikely make replacement a better choice.

Check the circuit breakers on the genset itself. If they're not on, it'll run, but no AC in the house or to the transfer switch.

Remove all power sources, open the transfer switch box, try to tighten the lug nuts, and look to see if things look clean. This procedure cured my 17 year old transfer switch.
Sometimes a quick hit from a wrench on the side of the box will show it who is boss!

Before mucking with the transfer switch, reset the circuit breaker on the generator itself. It's a common cause of this problem.

I had the same problem kind of. I could hear the genset load but I could not get power to one side of the coach. It was a burnt wire to the transfer switch. I replaced the wire and the switch and have had no problems since. I did not mess around with trying to fix the switch. I knew if I installed a new one the that would likely eliminate any future problems.

most transfer switches can be repaired. I had a circuit board go bad in mine. Ordered it om line. The board prevents the generator and land power being activated at the same time. You can bypass the board but it is good insurance to have it.
