Generator wonít start

Hereís the story & Iím quite embarrassed. Changed out the batteries on my Dolphin MH & got it wrong & initially hooked up parallel instead of series. After running engine for a few minutes I realized there was a problem (hot wire & battery bubbling). So far it looks like the batteries are holding out fine. Problem is the generator wonít start. It will turn over bit will not fire. There was a breaker on the panel that was tripped & seems to reset but to no avail. Any ideas will appreciated.

Welcome to iRV2.
Sorry your here with problems.

Could the power cable to the gen set still be hooked up to only 6 volts ??

Is you coach a gas chassis or diesel pusher ?

My diesel pusher has 30 feet of cable from the coach batteries to the gen set and a 12 volt circuit breaker within 3 feet of the batteries to protect the run of cable from shorts. If your coach has something similar you could have damaged the circuit breaker or the connections with the heat.
You'll have to access the cable connection at the gen set and check for full battery voltage .

This does not address your problem directly but I have found using my phone to take a picture or pictures of what I am working on before I start helpful sometimes.

I have a gas chassis. As far as I can see all the wires are hooked up correctly. The wire that was hot was the jumper wire connecting the 2 batteries. Iíve been looking for fuses or other inline circuit breakers but havenít found any blown ones. There is power to genny since the starter turns over. It just wonít fire. I was wondering if it was flooded from priming it to much. I waited 40 minutes & tried again but nothing. I will try again today once 9AM rolls around since Iím at a campground.

Did the generator run prior to the battery replacement? How much fuel in the MH? If 1/4 tank or less or if you're not level you may not be getting fuel to the genset.
