Lots of fuel in the tank ?? at least 1/3 ?

Propane , gas or diesel fueled gen set?

Could you add the year and coach type, manufacturer to your post , could help with better answers.

Make sure the oil is full on the dipstick.
They do what yours is doing when low on oil.

If low on gas, it wouldn't run at all. It would just crank.

Any problems with the way the coach engine runs ?
Possible bad fuel or plugged fuel filter ?
Do you have an owners manual for the gen set ?

Check the coolant level and fan belt. Diesels use safety shutdown a for them also.

Gen set won't stay running

It is a diesel gemset mounted in a 2002 Alpha motorhome. When we release the start button the engines that shuts off it just started doing this out of the blue fuel tank full oil level up curious.

If the gen set is on a slide out ; and the slide out was used just before the problem started, then you'll have to get under to the back of the gen set to look at the fuel line , if not properly supported , when the slide moves the fuel line can kink cutting off most of the fuel .
I had this problem the get set would start and run out of fuel in 20 seconds; stall; then take 45 seconds of cranking to restart.
Another possible is a air leak into the fuel line or the interior of the fuel line breaking down and plugging the fuel filter.
Do you have an owners manual for the gen set , with a troubleshooting guide ?

I would check the oil pressure switch. If the switch has failed the gene thinks it is out of oil and shuts down. (Be sure to check all plugs on switches and sensors.)

Mine does that also but I can go outside and push the start button and it will run. Have not figured that out either.

On some models you can push the stop button and hold it in for a few seconds to make the fuel pump run. This can build fuel pressure to push out any air bubbles.

Try that.

If you are using the start button inside the MH,.... don't.

Try the start button on the generator.

Bad connection from the remote switch was my problem in your circumstance.

Try to start it again. When it stops, press the stop button for a couple of seconds. release the button, count the blinks of the red light. It will probably be two sets. blink blink blink pause blink blink, would be 32 that will tell you the trouble code.
