Georgetown XL Vs Newmar Canyon Star

I've been looking for a new 1 1/2 bath 38' motorhome and have narrowed it down to the Georgetown XL 369 and Canyon Star 3710. They have similar floorplans and I especially like the Black Diamond option of the Georgetown.

I know this is a very subjective question but what do you guys think of each coach? I've driven them and like them both and the fit and finish was very good in both of them. So what do you think?

We considered both, but went with the Newmar for several reasons. We liked the fit and finish better on the Newmar, and at the time we were able to get the larger chassis with some upgrades. Newmar also had some features that the Georgetowns didn't have that we wanted at the time. Also in talking to some who owned the Georgetowns, they complained about how long they sat in the shop awaiting repairs. Now that may be all about the dealership and not have anything to do with Georgetown themselves, as they really liked their MH's but found smaller non sales type shops to take them in for repairs. We are really happy with our Newmar, we have the bath and a half and the floorplan, setup works very well for us. We have had it in the shop twice for some minor adjustments and the microwave recall. Both times we were able to stay with the MH, watch them do the adjustments, and take it home the same day. That is worth it's weight in gold to me as I hate to leave it in the shop or let anyone work on it unless I absolutely have to. Good luck with your decision.

When looking at a coach you have to go beyond the flash, and look at the substance. I agree with Mike in that you'll probably find the fit & finish of the Newmar superior. Do little things like pull a drawer out and see if it's stapled together or not. Look at the drawer slides, plastic or metal? The coach takes a beating going down the road, so how things are put together gets more important the more miles you put on it. And I believe Newmar has better support after the sale than most others do. But I am prejudiced, as we've been full time for 6yrs. in our Newmar.
