Getting an RV painted in Mexico

Anyone here done it? Pictures, prices and how is it holding up?

Any good places on the Texas border? I know about Algodones, wondering if there are alternatives.

There are places in Puerto Penasco to get coaches painted. I have seen a couple done and have seen them a couple of years later and the job still looks good. You won't get a show room job if that is what you want but they do pretty good considering

Buddy of mine had his done in San Felipe. They sanded for a week while they were in the RV park in the evening. Went in for one day for paint. 8am in, 6pm out. Still looks good after two years. Cost him $500.

A few years ago I painted my pickup, Dakota, it took 3 gal of paint and cost 300.00. if you only paid 500.00 and was out I in one day, there's something wrong. My coach has 24 gal of paint. Watch what your doing. How can a quality paint job cost 20gs here. Have fun rvn

About a qrt of each color was left, red, black and clear. 3 coats of each. Single phase paint. Way more that 30 hrs to paint and wet sand and buff. I would not paint a complete RV... Ever

There are only a few places in the US to get an RV painted with quality workmanship. Precision Paint in Bremen IN is one of them. They also do the paint work for Entegra coach.

A $500 RV paint job . . . in Mexico. What could possibly go wrong?

I would love to be there when you re-enter the U.S. and they pull up a 'before' photo of your coach and compare it with the one you are now driving. Then the fun starts when the border agents start pulling open panels to search for contraband. While they are doing that, another agent may invite you into a special room for a little examination of your own. :-)

Ok, I got a little carried away here, but I couldn't resist such a softball post.

I'm on a Discovery forum and one of our members recently had his rig painted in Mexico. It is absolutely gorgeous, process went very well. He isn't the only one on that forum to have gone to Mexico for paint, and those other folks have been satisfied, too. I'm sure there are horror stories out there, as there would be with anything, and I doubt we would do it, but it seems to be a viable option.

Jim;

Got a link to the forum? I've been following this thread and waiting for Before / After photos...

I'm thinking of painting my 1999 Southwind.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.
