Getting to fridge or bath with slides in

We currently have a fifth wheel with 2 curbside doors. Those doors allow us to pull over and get to the kitchen through one and the the bedroom/bath through the other. We are ready for a change and I have been researching motorhomes for months. Just today I got a big surprise. When we get our motorhome I had visions of pulling off to get a cold drink from the fridge or using the bathroom. I just discovered that we can do neither with the floorplan I fell in love with. Now as I look further I find this is frequently the case. Before I start my search all over again, has anyone researched floorplans with this in mind or is it common to put out a slide when you stop?

Welcome to IRV2! With our 2012 Fleetwood Discovery 36J, everything is accessible with the slides in except for drawers in the bedroom. That - like yours - was one of our concerns before we purchased it. Better to find out about these issues now, before writing a check, than after the fact.

I a1ways check the space when I take it for a test drive. Pretty simple. If I can get to the fridge and the head I'll go ahead with the drive, if I can't get to those, I walk out.

Easy access when slides are IN in 2015 Meridian 36m

We can get to everything in our 2015 Itasca Meridian 36M with the slides IN . . . the refrigerator, stove, MW, bath, table and chairs and bed plus can sit comfortably on both couches. Can access 1/2 the bedroom closet from walkway and other half by climbing on the bed. The only thing we can't access when the slides are IN is the dresser drawers in the bedroom. Below is a picture of the slides IN! Sweet!

I think you'll find many, many more floor plans that do allow access to the fridge, bathroom, with slides in, than those that dont.

Some times, there ways around this problem. In our 5er, you can't get to much of anything with the slide in. However, if I leave the dinette table off of the pedestals, I can reach everything except a few cabinets, without extending the slide.

I can not comment on the availability of floor plans where you can but I know the floor plan I have I can access the kitchen slides in or out.. This includes fridge and pantry.

And though I can not easily get to the MAIN bath with shower and all that.. The half is easily reached.. A fact I have occasionally been very glad of.

When we were shopping, we had them pull the slides in before we got too far into the process. Everything we looked at was accessible with the slides in. We were looking at DP though. Perhaps gassers have this issue more often than DPs...I don't know.

Have never owned a MH that we couldn't get to the bath or refer when the rig was closed up.
We looked at one Dutch Star I liked, but when I went back when it was closed I could barely get to the bath and my DW is a little "wider" than I am so I never even had her look at it.

We can get to everything except the bottom draws in the master with the slides in. I don't think I could own a coach that I could not get to the bathroom or fridge with the slides in.

We can access everything except the bottom drawers in the bedroom in our Ventana. Another thing I looked for was did you have enough room to take care of business in the toilet. I've seen closets bigger then some of those rooms.
