Glass shelves in display storage cabinet

We have a 2000 Pace Arrow Vision 36B. There is a mirrored-back, glass storage cabinet with about 3 or 4 glass shelves in it for displaying whatevers.

The glass shelves are held at each end by small shelf brackets that have a little "ledge" on each of them. The back of each bracket has a protrusion on it that fits into the hole-perforated side "boards" that are installed/fitted into each inside end of the cabinet. You can adjust the location of each shelf by choosing a different level of holes to put the brackets in. The two rows of holes run the entire length of each "board".
The hole-perforated side boards, which are not real wood, but appear to be almost cardboard-like, need replacing as they are no longer strong enough to hold the glass shelves with the brackets, esp. with travel on the road.

Some of the holes in the side boards are too big now, but overall the boards just are not sturdy enough to hold the weight of each shelf and its 4 brackets (2 on each end to hold the ends of the shelf), plus whatever is put on the shelf; even lightweight stuff.

Question: Where can we purchase replacement hole-perforated interior side boards to replace the ones we have? We can of course, modify the size to fit the intended space. We'd like something of the similar thickness but of stronger material. Suggestions appreciated.
Thanks,

I drilled new holes and puttied up the old ones, then glued the pegs in so it wouldn't happen again and it's been almost a year now and no problems with glass shelves crashing down.

I'd remove the 'cardboard' and replace with a nice hardwood that I'd drill with new holes. It only has to be the thickness of the shelf pins. It can be stained to match the cabinet or painted white to aid in reflecting the light.

When I started reading your post I thought it was going to be about glass shelves breaking.

You can do as suggested above or replace the side panels with real wood stained to match the current (or stained a contrasting color). You can get a template and drill bit at a good wood working supplier such as Rockler's.

I would use new boards cut to size, drill the wholes using the remplate, then install them. That assures you that the holes are the correct size, the correct depth, correctly spaced.

BTW: I built all the cabinets for our house, but this job does not require a huge amount of experience. It is all abour having the right tools andctakung your time.

this.

If you like the location of current shelving, mark where the wallowed-out holes are, use a small level to mark a spot 1" away (horizontal), and drill a hole the same size. Place drill bits into un-used existing holes to get the perfect size bit (probably 1/4").

If the first holes lasted 14 years, you're good to go.

Replacing with new wood could cause clearance problems with the shelving, making you have to buy new shelves, because trimming 1/4" off a glass shelf often fails.
