I am looking at a replacement for BlueSky and leaning toward Geico with Good Sam at second. Wondering if it would be worth to continue comprehensive and collision for an 18 year old vehicle. Runs great and works for us but probably only worth 12-15k.

You do have an interesting dilemma. If there is no lien holder and the cost of replacement would not cause a big financial burden on you, then dropping to the minimum coverage for your state may make sense. If you only use it occasionally - Good Sam has a "storage option" which could cut your insurance costs in half. It all comes down to "what is your comfort level". If you think it is only worth 12-15k, you can be darn sure the insurance company will cut that in half if they have to pay a damage claim and only give you 6 or 7k.

National General Insurance

We were insured by them since we have owned RVs. 1989 to now.
Just got the renewal. 81.6% increase in rates.
Am waiting for my credit freeze to be lifted, so I can find something else.
They "were" pretty decent on claims from a customer view and a body shop view.

I have 2006 National Seabreeze. It and 2012 Camry and 2011 Honda CR-V are insured with National for 2100

Had the same experience. I was with them for 2 years and got the same increase as you. Went back to AARP Hartford.

National General "Good Sam" RV Insurance

Worst Insurance you can buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT BUY NATIONAL GENERAL INSURANCE IF YOU WANT THEM TO PAY A CLAIM. WORST OF WORST, DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THEIR LOWER PREMIUMS, DOES YOU NO GOOD WHEN YOU NEED TO GET A CLAIM PAID. OH SURE THEY'LL FIX A CHIP IN YOUR WINDOW ETC. BUT GOOD LUCK WITH ANY SUBSTANTIAL CLAIMS.
WORST CLAIMS ADJUSTERS AROUND.

Angry NATIONAL GENERAL Think twice!!!!!!!

I have been astounded at the poor customer service and ignorance at the "RV insurer" National General. It is impossible to speak to a person, even to put a policy on inactive or storage. You can only leave a message. I finally got through to someone to let them know my RV was in storage. He asked several questions, and I explained it was at a gated RV resort and I had it on leveling jacks, etc. Without saying anything, my policy was cancelled because "RV was stationary". He did not know what jacks are.

I did not receive a notification, just happened to stumble across the letter online when I was checking my policy. I spoke to several more people, explaining I no longer had confidence to insure my rig with them. Not a single person knew what leveling jacks are - not even the supervisor. Bye, bye - no confidence.

I have NAtional General and last year I backed into a tree branch and did several $ in damage to my RV. I made a call, left a message and was called back the next day. I explained what happened and told the NG agent I took the RV to a dealership. We exchanged a couple of emails and the service department sent pictures of the damage with an estimate and an approval was sent to the service department to start the repairs. It was actually not a bad experience at all although my insurance premium did go up when I renewed but I expected that anyway. It really appears the insurance agent handling the claim is key. Fortunately, my experience was a positive one but Im still a newbie.

National General

Having a blowout in Arizona in Sept. Took out passenger side rear dually's, hot water heater, side panel and wiring in our 2010 Fleetwood Bounder Classic. Called National General that night. They were very nice on the phone and said no problem. Told me to take it to Camping World when we got back to N.C.which was 3 weeks later, Camping World told me everything was approved right away. $500 deductible and no further issues. Price was right (Progressive wanted double the price) I like National General.

We have NG. Last year we had an $11K claim with them. All went good. Shopped around for new insurance last month. Nobody, including Progressive, Hartford, USAA, or State Farm, even came close.

I've had NG for last3 yrs and had good experience with them when dealing with them over the phone. Haven't had to file a claim, but glad to hear of others good experience. And haven't found anyone to come close to their price.
