My experience

Dealer wanted $19k, said no, then 14k, said no, finally offered 6 yrs from 5 and $9k. Still No!. Checked warranties, most are 1 to 5 yrs.
So far spent $10 returning rear camera. Would have cost me hundred+ to go to dealer, wait for repairs, then go back to install. I have fixed many small items myself that would have turned into major ext. warranty items if I were not handy.
Saving 10 grand incase something does go I can't fix. If I don't need it it's in my pocket!

The interesting thing though totally expected you never see any problem resolutions written up in their publications.

I don't get it? Why have an extended warranty on say the diesel engine or transmission, when they are the longest lasting parts, with the longest OEM warranty? Also many buy diesels because they want it to last. But say 10000 miles per year times 10 years is 100000 miles. Rarely anybody keeps them that long. Most tire of their RV long before 10 years.
I bought mine for the hill climbing ability. Better MPG and new so I was not buying someone else's problems.

You are right, diesel is the best but the most expensive when broke down, I just spent 4700$ on a diesel pump on my generator. They usually last longer than that but I caught, the engine is usually not the problem, slides, hydraulics on leveling system, usually spend more on tires than diesel. But I will never buy an extended warranty.

I would add a 4th:
People who buy or use GS products and expect service, but don't get it.

I had a freind who had GS road side service. tried to use it in Alaska, GS said no, we don't do Alaska, he dropped them as soon as he got home.
Same goes for Camping World.

I signed up for a GS extended service plan, thinking I was covered for major issues until I learned the quirks of my MH. I had the plan with the $1,000 deductible. Anyway, after 6 months of learning my coach, I decided that it was dependable, and cancelled the plan. Low and behold, I was told I could cancel the plan, but it included a $50 cancellation penalty. This was not explained when I signed up. While I never had a claim, I think this speaks volumes about GS. $50 bucks to push a button on their computer, wow.

I am still fighting these people but I will say I have learned a lesson, before I do anything else in the RV world I am going to ask you guys, I think it was P. T Barnum that said, "there is a fool born every minute and two to take his money", he owned a circus.
Thanks for all the information, lesson well learned, I think the reputation of the original owner of GS has been used up.

I once worked for an insurance company, not related to the RV industry. It's public image was: "We care." It's internal operating culture was: "The insured is lying, find a reason to deny the claim." I could not reconcile this. I had sleepless nights. I quickly quit that insurance job without having another job to go to.

So? Perhaps a name change is appropriate for the "Good Sam" extended service insurance plan? How about "GREEDY SAM"?

Thank you all for your honesty. You have helped me to decide, to NOT buy this extended warranty insurance. I was on the fence after reading their piles of glossy, "friendly" literature. Now, I just wonder if I can trust and depend on their road service?
