Good Sam roadside assistance.

I had a good experience using the service to change my inside rear tire which went bad. Arrived in less than an hour and changed the tire out in 20 minutes. Probably helped that I was in the Minneapolis area. Mad that I lost a new tire that was about 4 months old. Glad I wasn't in the middle of nowhere. Going to Black Hills next week. Since I have a turn rotater cuff, changing out a tire is pretty hard by myself. I should invest in a portable air wrench of some sort. Any suggestions?

Being a short woman I find some things that I know how to do difficult because I can't physically do them now that Im not carrying around 75lbs of equipment regularly. lol I do have a husband so the task gets handed to him lol

I would keep all the tools necessary to do the job. Someone able-bodied may stop to help and can use your stuff to help you out. Just make sure that you also have the proper things to help make them safe helping you out. Safety cones and safety vests are a good place to start. I also keep safety glasses and work gloves on hand. Flares seem to be more of a distraction to passing drivers so I leave those for the boat. hahaha

We have no clue as to what type coach you have, and I am making the leap that it is a coach due to the inside tire reference. Rather than the purchase of a air compressor and impact wrench set up, I would think more towards an electric impact and a suitably sized extension cord since you already have a generator. Again, not knowing what type coach, if you ate going to be ready to tackle this on your own you need to think about a bottle jack, cribbing, lug wrench, wheel chock, torque multiplier of some sort, and the spare tire / wheel. I don't know if you have the space for an air compressor that will generate the pressure and volume to remove and install lug nuts at the proper torque.

I am all for being prepared for unexpected contingencies, but many times there are contingencies that compound contingencies. I have everything I should reasonably need to change my own tire/wheel under most any circumstance that I may encounter (with lots of past experiences) but I also have the 800 number for coach-net. I also carry an electric impact, but if your maintenance is kept up on your wheels on a Class C or class A gasser, it will probably take as long to get it out and hook it up and then use it as it would take to just use a 4-way. SWMBO asked about some of the stuff I carry and I keep telling her that I am more likely to use it to help somebody else than use it for myself.

Changing out a 22.5 tire is extremely difficult for me (and likely many people)! -- no way I'm even going to try. Maybe with a smaller coach with smaller wheels/tires I might give it a different thought, but, for now, emergency roadside services will always be my first choice!

I have 19.5s and being a DIY guy I prefer to do it if I can. I'm leaning toward your advice though 😀

Just wanted to say Good Sam Roadside was a pleasure for me last week. I am at a camp ground in Great Falls MT. ground squirrels got under my toad hood and chewed the wires. Had to have it towed to the Toyota dealer in town. Called Good Sam and they fixed me up. got an email about 10 minutes after I got off the phone that a tow truck had been dispatched from about 15 miles away and they had an eta of 40 minutes. They showed up in 25, hooked me up and took me to Toyota about 7 miles away. Sure was hassle free!
