Great RV mechanic in San Francisco east bay?
A not just good, but great RV shop, R Mechanic, went out of business in Livermore, CA. when the owners retired! They were honest, and always did a great job and stood behind their work. Anyone know of a not good, but a great alternative in the East Bay? Really missing R Mechanic!

Ditto. We're up in Santa Rosa and I've only found limited support available locally. However, we do have a great diesel shop (Lubrivan in Windsor) if you need drivetrain work or service.

We visit family and friends in Pleasanton a few times each year, and I have had work done at R-Mechanic and was impressed with Norm's knowledge and excellent service.
For most everything having to do with the coach I have also been using and can highly recommend Affordable RV in Newcastle, CA. RV Service Center | Affordable RV They are an authorized service center for many name brand coaches (don't know about Winnebago), including Tiffin which has saved me a couple of trips to Red Bay.
Dassen Murchie runs the service dept, but doesn't have a title because he doesn't like them. He is very knowledgeable and has a great crew. They have never let me down. They are also excellent at working with extended service contract companies in getting them to cover things by being very creative in the way they present the claim.
If they repairs are going to take a few days they have a couple of buildings you can park next to with 50 amp service....no water or sewer hookups though.
Affordable is also has a large RV rental fleet. For their engine and drive train service they use Superior Equipment Motorhome Services « Superior Equipment Repair, Inc. which is just about right next door to them. I haven't personally used them yet, but will later this month as it looks like I need a head gasket replaced. Ed is the Service Manager.

We have a superhero in the Sacramento area. He's been our guy for the last 10 years, can fix and work on anything. He is Eric Villalobos of Eric's Mobile RV Repair!

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions. Sacramento is too far out of the Bay Area for me, but I'm sure there is someone close. I heard Almaden RV in San Jose is pretty good.

Ah, but he refuses to work on rigs more than 10 yrs old.......
Oops, he changed the policy. Now will not work on rigs older than 1998.

We've always had good luck with Leale's RV in San Jose - they are authorized for most brands and do great work.

Rv'ers I know swear by Twin Oaks Garage in Penngrove (between Petaluma and Cotati). Penngrove is about a 1 to 1 1/2 hour drive from the Eastbay. They work on a lot of large trucks and RV's and they also do chassis work.
I have an appointment to have some minor engine work done on my RV, I will post a review when the work is complete.

Thanks! That may be a little far for the OP but it pretty close to us. Let us know how your experience goes.

It may be a little while as I am scheduled for knee replacement on Thursday. My appt. at the shop is for 6 weeks out, hopefully I can drive by then.
