Gulf Stream air bags

I have a 2006 Gulf Stream crescendo and I'm looking to see if anyone knows how to override the automatic inflators on the air bags. I have a switch to dump the air when in park but when you put mh in drive they automatically inflate. Can I bypass that safety feature so that I can back into garage with bags deflated. I've have a slight clearance issue backing into garage with bags inflated.

First a couple of points: Your RV is a Gulf Stream but it's on a separate manufacturer's chassis, probably Spartan or Freightliner. They add the suspension to the chassis, not GS. The dump valve function is probably tied into the leveling jack function, which is added by Gulf Stream. What you want to do isn't that hard, you need to trace the wiring from the leveling jack dump button and install a second switch to trigger the dump valves. I'd be very cautious about that switch, it should have a bright light or annoying buzzer when energized to remember not to drive off with the bags deflated. It would quickly ruin your U joints, transmission end bearing, the air bags, and possibly interfere with turning corners with the bags deflated. Energizing the dump valves from a second switch might also need diodes added to prevent energizing the leveling jack system. Not for sure about that, but I'd sure check.

Sounds like I might be over my head if I have to start adding switches. I was hoping to just keep it from inflating the bags by maybe disconnecting a wire or sensor from gear shifter. Thanks for reply. And yes it is on a freightliner chassis

I would not worry about forgetting and driving with the bags deflated. Driving a diesel with airbags deflated is like driving on a washboard. It will jar your teeth out.

Have you tried holding the dump air switch down and putting it into reverse?

Well the guys came back yesterday and moved the header up and put in s new door panel that gave me enough room to back in. I had to back in till it almost hit and dump the bags. When the bags were dumped I had about 2' of clearance and about 30 seconds to move past the point where it could hit. Thankfully it fit, and you are right about driving off with air bags down. You'll know real quick rides like a hay wagon. The switch that dumps the bags automatically stays where you put it, it just starts to inflate as soon as you drop it in gear. Thanks for the input
