gun in Rv legal
ok so I have CC permit in Florida and I don't need to carry when walking around New York city, but would like to leave it inside the Rv with out breaking the law .
The RV will be parked in New Jersey .
If I keep it unloaded and in the back of Rv is it still breaking the law in those state's ?
Thank's
mike

Just keep it hidden, and don't tell or put a sign in the window saying gun on board.

Your permit means nothing in NJ.
See: Concealed Carry Permit Reciprocity Maps - USA Carry
So, now that you're a regular citizen, you'll need to read the gun laws that apply to that state:
New Jersey State Police - Transporting a Firearm Into / Through the State of New Jersey
It looks to me like you can have it in the RV if it's put up somewhere that you can't reach while driving AND it's unloaded. The ammo needs to be locked up in an exterior compartment or the gun/ammo need to be locked up in an area that you can't get to while driving.
NJ isn't gun friendly.
Note, if your CC shows up as part of your license pull while traveling in NJ, it may lead to additional questions:
"In a case where circumstances reasonably indicate that the person's possession and transportation of the firearms my be permitted by 18 U.S.C.A. 926A, the officer should make reasonable inquiries in order to determine whether the person's possession is permitted by that federal law."
Now, when the vehicle is parked and is operating as a domicile, the answer may substantially change...

Laws vary from state to state and in cases from city or county to city or county within a state so I won't even try to advise you about carrying a gun when you are IN the RV.
However if it is your plan to STORE the weapon in the RV while you tour NYC (Or anywhere else)
Put it in multiple places.. Example. Barrell in wardrobe, Bolt in sock drawer, Ammo locked in basement.
And use strong boxes where you can.
Would be very bad to return "home" and find an intruder had found your weapon.

I guess my Rottweiler will have to be enough
it's hard to understand some of the lingo that the state uses .
it say's """
Shall be carried unloaded and contained in a closed and fastened case, gunbox, securely tied package, or locked in the trunk of the automobile in which it is being transported, and in the course of travel, shall include only such deviations as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances ""
this part is tricky "" shall include only such deviations as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances "
so would staying in a campground for 4 day's reasonable ? who no's .
I guess it all depend's if the cop is a cool one or a [moderator edit]

Partially disassemble it. Then you don't have a gun. You have gun parts.

Hand gun laws in the US are dictated by each individual state and often interpreted differently by each local entity. Although I have a CC permit for my state, I would not carry a hand gun in the RV. The laws are just too vague and open to interpretation. I wish they were more standardized but they are not.
If you feel the need for protection have you considered something like a shotgun. There are several with cyl chokes and 18 1/2 in barrels. These are legal to carry in your RV in all states.

I know this entry asked "to be legal" but there are certain safe guards written into our constitution protecting us from unlawful search and seizure, namely the 4th amendment so what is the reason for this invasion into your underwear drawer to find a weapon that is there legally?
I did get an e-mail today saying a weapons confiscation may start via the United Nations although I have not checked it's veracity.
