GVWR/GCWR question for 2016 Pace Arrow LXE

Hello all -

Over the weekend we got to see one of the new 2016 Pace Arrows by Fleetwood at a show in Tampa. We really liked the layout and the show price was impressive for what seemed to be a really quality diesel. We liked the 38ft size as well.

However, after reading some posts on here and reading through Fleetwood's brochure, I have a question.

The brochure lists the following in terms of weight limits:

GVWR: 32,400
Front GAWR: 12,400
Rear GAWR: 20,000
GCWR: 33,000
Hitch Rating: 5000lbs.

At first I thought that this basically meant that we could only tow something that weights 600lbs. Our dinghy isn't overly heavy (kia soul) but obviously more than 600lbs.

I found this on another iRV2 post:

1. GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) is the maximum permissible weight of
this fully loaded motor home. The GVWR is equal to or greater than the sum
of the (UVW) unloaded vehicle weight plus the (OCCC) occupant cargo carrying
capacity. UVW and OCCC are found on the label containing the federal certification
tag in each RV.
2. GAWR (Gross Axle Weight Rating) is the maximum permissible loaded
weight a specific axle is designed to carry.
3. GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating) is the value specified by the motor
home manufacturer as the maximum allowable loaded weight of this motor
home with its towed vehicle.

So how does the hitch rating figure into the GCWR? Does the coach have to basically be unloaded for me to tow something?

The numbers don't make sense to me - can someone clarify?

Your descriptions are correct. The missing numbers are the UVW - unloaded vehicle weight (empty RV with full tank of fuel) and OCCC - occupant/cargo carry capacity...see:

The way it stacks up is:
UVW = Empty RV..
Add cargo (including the tankage) and passengers to not exceed GVWR (load allowed riding on the RV's tires)...this is called OCCC.
Add trailer to not exceed GCWR (total mass being pulled by the RV's engine).

When these RV's get this big, how much you load the RV (amount of OCCC used) will impact how much you can tow...up to the max hitch capacity of 5000lb.
Having said all that...there is probably plenty of carry capacity in the RV for the average owner

I would be surprised to find that those numbers aren't a typo. A GCWR and GVWR that are only 600lbs different?...I just can't believe that.

Ditto..... Incorrect numbers. I have seen it before.
