"jwmaustin"....you're putting way to much emphasis on a door. Ours is two years old and we've never had an issue with the door. It's certainly not fragile. It's a metal mechanism at the top and bottom. Like I said it opens plenty wide for my big ole butt. It opens the same with the slide in or out and has never been an issue. I've never really thought about it until you posted here.

As I said, check out the depth of the slides of the other coaches. Newmar makes their walkway tight and do the door the way they do, because their full wall slide is so deep. I certainly would trade slide depth for how a door swings.

Pros and Cons

Don (and others)
Yes, one of the values of this forum is we all get to look at tradeoffs that affect each of us. My interest is a little more on travel mode (slides in). We all have a list of what we want I imagine and we can't cover everything of course. The door/fridge/travel mode is one differentiator. It does seem that most (but not all) find the Newmar acceptable. But I'm not sure we are sold on it. And by "it" I mean the door, bathroom size, accessing fridge, etc. If we could make it work for us by just changing the door I'd do that.

We also get to share info as we discuss pros and cons and knowing that Newmar has deeper slides is helpful. I'd rather buy from a local Indiana company if they have what I need and I'm willing to do that even if there are some aspects that aren't as good.

We are still in still in the evaluation step and have a long list of what we are looking at. Evaluating the list is especially hard since choice of brand/dealer affects the decision. One reason for me for buying from an Indiana manufacturer (Newmar, Fleetwood, Entegra) is that I go to the factory for repair and don't depend on the dealer. Choosing a Winnebago or Tiffin are both out of state so "not" choosing Newmar would be more difficult.

This has been helpful to get thoughts, more are welcome. Thanks.
