We had over 900 hours on the one in our Itasca when we sold it. At near 800 hours, we had fuel pump problems and replaced it. The carburetor was fouled, but the SeaFoam treatment as shown in the Onan You Tube video took care of that.
I run the SeaFoam treatment in the 5500 generator in the Mirada, my boat, and all my small engines a couple of times a year.
The 4000 has no oil filter, only an air filter. I think that changing oil every 100 hours is good practice. I also found that it was better to keep the oil level between 1/2 and 3/4 of the level mark. Over filling is not good.
